New to playing mahjong at a venue? Here is a simple guide to choosing a place and enjoying your visit.

Find a place in Tokyo Language and scoring help

Before you go

  1. Find a place that suits you

Start with the location and total cost. Check the game fee and any additional charges before you visit.

  2. Check how to join

If you plan to go alone or would like help as a beginner, check the venue information. Contact the venue if you need details, including help in English.

  3. Tell the staff it is your first visit

At reception, say it is your first time. Staff can explain the fees, how the games work and how to join a table.

  4. Ask when you need help

If a rule or score is unclear, ask the staff whether they can help. Relax and enjoy the game at your own pace.

Some venues charge for drinks or other required services in addition to the game fee. Check the total cost with the venue before visiting.
